Foods that May Constipation

Published:  09/20/2016

There can be many different causes of constipation but what you eat will have a direct influence on if you get constipated. You're more likely to be constipated if you eat a low fiber diet. Being inactive, not drinking enough fluids, ignoring the urge to go, and using specific supplements or medications and some underlying medical conditions and recently having had surgery may also lead to constipation. However, in order to avoid the problem, you should start by knowing some foods that cause constipation.

Processed Foods

Dairy Products

Bananas

White Rice

Red Meat

Processed grains

Fried or fast foods

Rich, fatty, sweet desserts

To help prevent constipation eat a diet high in fiber rich foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole-grain cereals and breads, nuts and seeds, lentils and legumes.

Be sure to get enough fluids. Without fluids, constipation can get worse. Drinking enough fluids can help you have regular bowel movements.

Stay active. Do things that keep you moving and active. Find physical activities that you enjoy doing, and make them a part of your everyday life.
