Maria's Spicy Grilled Broccoli

Published:  11/01/2018

20160328_161218This has to be the best broccoli I have ever had! It has more flavor because of the addition of Worcestershire and a bit of Sriracha. I am sensitive to hot sauce and even a little seems spicy to me. This amount was just right, so use that as your guide to how much to add. And if you prefer a simpler grilled broccoli recipe go to this recipe.

I make this recipe so often I now double the dressing mixture and reserve half for another batch.

If you don't want to fire up the grill, heat the oven to 400 and roast for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Maria's Spicy Grilled Broccoli
8 cups fresh broccoli florets

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce

2 cloves minced garlic

1 tsp Sriracha Sauce or other hot sauce, (this will be mildly hot) add more if you want it hotter

3/4 teaspoon Kosher Salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Rinse broccoli florets in a bowl, drain in a colander and drain thoroughly. Ideally, allow it to dry. If you don't have time, pat it with paper towel.

Put broccoli in large bowl.

In a medium size bowl, mix together the olive oil, Worcestershire, garlic, Sriracha and salt and pepper. Mix to combine, then pour over the broccoli in the bowl. Using a big spoon, mix well.

Set your grill temperature to high. Prepare a sheet of aluminum foil large enough for all the broccoli to fit on in a single layer. Or use a grill pan.

If you don't want to fire up the grill, heat the oven to 425 and roast for about 20 minutes.

Place your grill pan on the grill or lay the foil on the grill and quickly spread the broccoli out evenly upon it. Make sure to crimp up the side edges of the foil for easy retrieval after cooking.

Close the grill's lid and cook at high heat for 8-10 minutes. (8 minutes for crisper broccoli, 10 minutes for more"well-done" softer broccoli.

When finished cooking, remove the broccoli from the grill by grabbing the foil at the crimped-up sides or use hotpads to remove the grill pan. Place the broccoli into your serving bowl.

Makes 3 large servings. This recipe can be found on MyFitnessPal.
